Bohdan Viunnyk: FC Zurich sign Ukrainian refugee with a contract until 30 June 2022
Shakhtar Donetsk youth player Bohdan Viunnyk, aged 19, fled the Ukrainian war zone a few days ago. He managed to enter Switzerland with the help of friends.
These acquaintances contacted FC Zurich and after various discussions and clarifications, the club decided to sign Bohdan Viunnyk with immediate effect.
The transfer was made possible by the special transfer window opened by FIFA for players from the Ukrainian and Russian leagues, whose contracts with their current employers will be suspended until 30 June 2022.
The Ukraine U21 international started his football career with Metalist Kharkiv and Dynamo Kyiv before joining Shakhtar Donetsk in 2017. Viunnyk has been on loan at FK Mariupol since the summer of 2021.
FC Zurich welcome Bohdan Viunnyk and wish him a lot of success with the club.
