2:0 Victory against FC Lausanne-Sport

FC Zurich has started the second half of the season with a 2:0 win against FC Lausanne-Sport. Chermiti and Drmic scored the two goals for the home side in the Letzigrund Stadium.

As early as five minutes into the game, Chermiti managed to score the important first goal to put his team in the lead: Benito and Mariani, who played his first-ever league game over 90 minutes with the first team, attacked down the left side and split FC Lausanne-Sport’s defense with a remarkable combination play before the Tunisian striker put the ball into the net.

FC Zurich was in complete control of the action on the pitch for most of the game and did not allow the opponent any goal-scoring opportunities. FC Zurich’s players, on the other hand, passed the ball back and forth well and created several opportunities to score the second goal. Clear-cut chances, however, were scarce and the home team was not able to turn its advantage on the pitch into goals and score the game-deciding goal early on.

While the home side appeared in front of the FC Lausanne-Sport goal less and less during the second half, Lausanne launched attacks more and more often as the game progressed. It was not until stoppage time, however, that Drmic scored the second goal of the afternoon: the striker put the ball into the net from a pass by Brunner and decided the match with the 2:0.

This coming Sunday, FC Zurich will have the opportunity to confirm its successful start to the second half of the season: The team will be facing FC Lucerne in an away game in the Swissporarena on February 17th.
