1:1 – FC Zurich Draws against FC Lucerne

FC Zurich has won a point in its away game against FC Lucerne. Wiss and Béda were the only goal scorers in the 1:1 draw in the Swissporarena in Lucerne.

Even before FC Zurich got the opportunity to let the ball do the work, FC Lucerne’s Wiss managed to score the 1:0 and put the home team in the lead: After an attack down the left, FC Zurich’s defense was not able to clear the ball in the penalty box and Wiss scored from a wide-open position just two minutes into the game – FC Zurich goalkeeper David Da Costa didn’t stand a chance. For the rest of the first half, the FC Zurich players struggled to find their way into the match and organize their attacks.

After the half-time break, FC Zurich got into the game a little better. But it was again FC Lucerne which narrowly missed several good scoring opportunities: Hyka missed from long range twice and failed to put his team 2:0 up.

After 69 minutes, FC Zurich launched another attack: Jahovic sprinted after a deep pass and dribbled around FC Lucerne’s goalkeeper Zibung, who only managed to stop Zurich’s Macedonian striker with a professional foul for which he was sent off. Captain Mathieu Béda took over the responsibility and beat Lucerne’s young substitute keeper Räber.

FC Zurich’s next opportunity to win three points will come around this Saturday. The team will be facing Young Boys Bern in the Letzigrund Stadium.
