FC Zurich Celebrates 4:0 Away Win against FC Thun

Today's encounter between FC Thun and FC Zurich had an unexpected visitor: The game kicked off promptly at 1:45pm; however, play had to be halted for a while just a few minutes into the match because a marten had found its way onto the pitch and was running up and down the field. The rodent presented the staff in Thun's football ground with considerable problems, and catching it turned out to be quite a challenge, until FC Zurich keeper David Da Costa finally got a hold of the animal and handed it over to an official – the marten was then immediately released into the wild outside the stadium.

FC Zurich's players did not let this short interruption get them worked up and got right back to business once the game resumed: In the 12th minute, Marco Schönbächler played a cross into the middle of the box and FC Thun defender Nicolas Schindelholz deflected the ball into his own net, giving FC Zurich the 1:0 lead. No more goals were scored during the first half, but FC Thun's Schirinzi was sent off after two bookings within just three minutes, putting his team down to 10 men.

FC Zurich had the better start to the second half and showed some nicely crafted moves. Oliver Buff increased the visitors' lead to 2:0 with a shot from long range (48) and, just seven minutes later, Chikhaoui delivered a well-timed ball to Drmic – the FC Zurich forward dribbled past Thun keeper Faivre and scored the 3:0. The game was then ultimately decided in the 62nd minute when Chikhaoui played a deep pass to Chermiti, who found himself all alone in front of the goal – Faivre had to commit a foul on the Tunisian striker to prevent him from scoring. However, Chermiti still got his fifth goal of the season when he converted from the spot and put the final score to 4:0.

In its next league game, FC Zurich will be facing Servette FC in Geneva on Saturday, March 16th.
