FC Zurich Beats Local Rivals Grasshopper Club 1:0
FC Zurich has finally made it: After four painful defeats against local rivals Grasshopper Club (3 in the Super League, 1 in the Swiss cup), FC Zurich has finally beaten this opponent for the first time in the current season. During the second half, Amine Chermiti scored the winner in today’s 1:0 victory after he had been set up nicely by Marco Schönbächler. Thanks to the Tunisian forward’s 8th goal of the season, FC Zurich has climbed to 4th place in the Super League ranking and keeps its Europa League hopes alive.
Although today’s win was far from sparkling, it was still very well-deserved. “In the last four encounters, Grasshopper Club was luckier than us; I guess it was just our turn today”, said happy FC Zurich coach Urs Meier after the game. With this victory, FC Zurich’s positive spell continues: the team has won 13 points in the last 5 matches (4 wins, 1 draw).
FC Zurich’s next opportunity to win three points will be this Saturday in their home game against FC Lucerne.
