FC Zurich Beats FC Lucerne 4:1

FC Zurich is currently unstoppable: The team of head coach Urs Meier has beaten FC Lucerne 4:1 and has celebrated another vital victory tonight.

The first half of the encounter was rather uneventful and it looked like the two teams would go back to the dressing room without scoring any goals when Mario Gavranovic managed to put the ball into the net after a magnificent combination play and put the home side 1:0 up.

After the halftime break, the more than 10,000 fans in the Letzigrund Stadium got to enjoy a really spectacular match. Both teams created plenty of chances for their sides, but the two goalkeepers were also on top of their game and had several opportunities to show their abilities. When Sally Sarr succeeded in scoring the equalizer on 60 minutes, FC Zurich had the perfect answer at hand – and Marco Schönbächler, after being perfectly set up by Josip Drmic, again put the home side one goal ahead.

After that, FC Lucerne launched attack after attack, but it was with a bit of luck and a lot of skill that FC Zurich denied their opponents another goal – instead, the home side managed to increase the lead when Drmic scored the 3:1 already in stoppage time. And just four minutes later, Yassine Chikhauoi even hit the ball home to make the final result 4:1.

This Sunday, FC Zurich will be playing its next away game in Berne versus Young Boys.
