FC Zurich Beats Young Boys Berne 4:2

It’s done: After beating Young Boys Berne 4:2 at the Stade de Suisse this afternoon, FC Zurich has definitely qualified for the Europa League next season. The team of head coach Urs Meier came up on top and celebrated a well-deserved win thanks to a very strong offensive performance.

After FC Zurich had gone behind early on in the game – Samuel Afum had put the home side 1:0 up – the players showed a very powerful reaction and managed to turn the match around in the first half still: First, Josip Drmic scored the equalizer and, shortly after, Amine Chermiti put FC Zurich in the lead.

A little over 10 minutes had been played in the second half when it looked like the game was decided: Milan Gajic increased FC Zurich’s lead (3:1) from the spot, and Mario Gavranovic converted a deflection on Young Boys keeper Marco Wölfli to score the 4:1 only four minutes later. Alexander Farnerud‘s 2:4 revived the home fans’ hopes for victory, but it was not to be for the Young Boys: FC Zurich defended the lead without any difficulty and won another vital three points.
