Five Consecutive Wins: FC Zurich Beats FC Thun 2:0
17 games, 38 points, 41 goals scored and just 19 conceded – FC Zurich is the most successful team of the 2nd half of the 2012/2013 Super League season.
Tonight’s 2:0 home win versus FC Thun has been FC Zurich’s fifth consecutive win. But it certainly wasn’t an easy one – quite to the contrary: the visitors, coached by former FC Zurich head coach Urs Fischer, played very well and also created several promising scoring opportunities for themselves. The fact that the home side came out on top at the end was primarily due to the efficiency of FC Zurich’s forwards.
Just a few minutes into the second half, Mario Gavranovic slid the ball home from short range after a perfect pass by Amine Chermiti. And 9 minutes before the final whistle, it was the Tunisian striker’s turn: he lobbed the ball over FC Thun goalkeeper Faivre and decided the match with the 2:0 – his 10th goal of the season.
In their last game of the 2012/2013 Super League season, FC Zurich will be facing FC Sion in the Stade de Tourbillon this Saturday.
