Successful Start to the Season: FC Zurich Beats FC Thun 3:2
FC Zurich has had a successful start to the 2013/14 season: The team of head coach Urs Meier beat FC Thun 3:2 – a well-deserved win.
Just before the half-time whistle, Swiss national striker Mario Gavranovic slid the ball into the FC Thun goal and put his side 1:0 up after a perfect pass by Amine Chermiti. At the beginning of the second half, the home team put their opponents under a lot of pressure and tried to score the crucial 2:0. However, FC Zurich was caught out early on: Josef Martinez dribbled past FC Zurich defender Alain Nef and equalized the score, and just 9 minutes later, Dennis Hediger even put FC Thun in the lead. The game now turned into a really dramatic affair: it was in the 84th minute only that Pedro Henrique equalized the match again (2:2), and in the 93rd minute, Berat Djmisiti decided the game for the home side with a header after a corner.
FC Zurich will be playing their second game of the new season in Sion next Sunday.
