Goalless Draw in Sweltering Hot Sion

FC Zurich is still unbeaten after two league games this season. However, it is too bad that the team of head coach Urs Meier was not able to win today's encounter with FC Sion and walk away with the 3 points; instead, FC Zurich had to settle for a goalless draw.
The conditions were sweltering hot today and the temperatures climbed well above 30 degrees centigrade. As a consequence and as the game was scheduled for early afternoon, the heat certainly had an impact on the players on the pitch and their performance, particularly during the second half.
On the whole, FC Zurich was able to create more scoring opportunities than the host team, the two best ones of which striker Mario Gavranovic missed. But FC Sion remained dangerous throughout the entire 90 minutes and the game could have gone either way in the end. Therefore, FC Zurich was certainly happy with the 1 point when referee Hänni blew the final whistle.
FC Zurich has now won 4 points in 2 games and has had a successful start to the season. This coming Sunday, they will be playing their next away game in Lucerne.
