FC Zurich have lost their away game against FC Thun 1-2 this afternoon.

Just 3 minutes into the game, FC Thun’s Schenkel had the first opportunity of the afternoon, but he aimed too high and his shot went over the bar. FC Zurich now took control of the action on the pitch and created several promising chances for themselves: on 15 minutes, the ball dropped to the ground in front of Avi Rikan after a corner, but the Israeli national player’s attempt was wide. After another 15 minutes, Marco Schönbächler’s well-timed delivery found striker Mario Gavranovic, but his try was just not precise and strong enough and Thun keeper Faivre was able to save the ball.

Just a few minutes later, Gavranovic had his next chance. He did a better job this time round and put the ball into the FC Thun net; unfortunately, his goal was disallowed for offside – a bad decision by the referees.

In the 55th minute, FC Zurich finally scored the first goal: after a free kick, Yassine Chikhaoui took advantage of some confusion and disarray in the FC Thun defense and put the visitors 1-0 up.

However, this one goal was not enough to win the 3 points today as FC Thun’s Sadik scored two late goals within just four minutes and turned the game around for the home side. And to make matters worse, Chermiti’s equalizer in stoppage time was also not given for offside – a very close call again.

FC Zurich will be playing their next match (Swiss Cup) away against FC Baden this Saturday.
