FC Zurich have won their round of 16 match of the Swiss Cup against FC Baden 4-1 this afternoon.

FC Zurich took control of the action on the pitch from kick-off; however, it was FC Baden which scored the first goal of the game just 6 minutes in: After a free kick, Luca Ladner played a cross to the center, where Goran Antic put the ball into the Zurich net and his team into the lead.

It wasn’t until the 26th minute that FC Zurich was able to equalize the score to 1-1. Mario Gavranovic put a FC Baden defender under pressure – Marco Schönbächler took over the ball and kept his cool in front of keeper Pribanovic – it was Schönbächler’s fifth goal in this season’s cup competition so far.

FC Zurich kept dominating the game after this goal. On 57 minutes, Philippe Koch played a cross into the middle of the box, where Montenegrin midfielder Asmir Kajevic scored the 1-2 without any problems. And just three minutes later, the encounter was virtually decided when Gavranovic headed a delivery by defender Stefan Glarner home and increased FC Zurich’s lead to 1-3. Already in stoppage time, Avi Rikan put the final score to 1-4 from the spot.

FC Zurich will be facing FC St Gallen in their Swiss Cup quarter-final on December 4th and will be playing their next Super League game on Sunday, November 24th, against FC Sion at the Letzigrund Stadium.
