Würth Swiss Cup Semi-Finals Scheduled
FC Zurich Beats FC Sion 1-0

Le FC Zurich s’impose 2-0 contre le FC Saint-Gall

FC Zurich has won the away game against FC St Gallen 2-0 this afternoon.

The home team from St Gallen had the better start and Karanovic missed his second top chance of the afternoon not even 10 minutes in – but luckily, his shot was just wide. FC Zurich soon got into the game a little better: On 19 minutes, Avi Rikan tried to beat St Gallen keeper Lopar with a shot from around 20 meters, but his effort was saved.

After the half-time break, FC St Gallen again had the first opportunity when Lenjani set up Mathys 55 minutes in, but his shot was aimed too high and went over the bar. A little under 10 minutes later, FC Zurich got lucky twice: First, Loris Benito played a high ball into the box from a free kick and found the head of defender Nater, who deflected the ball into his own net. And then, just two minutes later, FC St Gallen’s Mutsch got sent off after his second yellow card.

FC Zurich was, however, not able to cash in on this one man advantage on the pitch, and it was another 20 minutes before Pedro Henrique finally put the score to 2-0 and secured the three points for the visitors from Zurich: His stunning shot from the corner of the box curled into the St Gallen net behind keeper Lopar – the undisputed highlight of the day.

FC Zurich will be facing FC Thun in their next Super League home game this coming Sunday.
