FC Zurich Suffers 3-0 Home Defeat against FC Lausanne-Sport

FC Zurich have lost their home game against FC Lausanne-Sport, the current bottom club of the Swiss Super League, 3-0 this afternoon. With this defeat, the team of head coach Urs Meier remains in 4th place 4, but their deficit on FC Basel and local rivals Grasshopper Club has increased to 11 and 8 points, respectively.

From kickoff, the home side didn’t really get into the game and was not able to create many scoring opportunities for themselves. After an unfortunate clearing in the FC Zurich defence, Yoric Ravet managed to score the 1-0 for the visitors on 25 minutes. And even though FC Zurich improved their play during the second 45 minutes, they were not able to equalize the score – instead, it got even worse for them in the 55th minute: The decisive moment was when Avi Rikan failed to convert from the spot; his try hit the post. Franck Etoundi had been fouled in the box.

The game was then ultimately decided when Yannis Tafer scored the 2-0 with a magnificent shot from long range (62nd minute) – David Da Costa in the Zurich goal didn’t stand a chance. The 3-0 scored again by Ravet on 75 minutes was the conclusion in an all in all disappointing match and afternoon for the home side.

FC Zurich will be playing their next game (away) at the Letzigrund Stadium this Saturday night.
