After 367 Super League minutes without scoring a goal, FC Zurich have finally managed to put the ball into their opponents‘ net again – Franck Etoundi scored both Zurich goals in today’s 2-2 draw with BSC Young Boys Berne.

Just 7 minutes inside the game, the Cameroonian striker opened the score from short range and put the home side 1-0 up after a quickly executed throw-in and a well-timed and accurate delivery by Philippe Koch. This early lead, however, did not give FC Zurich more security in the game – quite to the contrary: the visitors from Berne got into the match a little better and turned the score around still in the first half thanks to two goals scored by Samuel Afum (30) and Christoph Spycher from the spot (43).

The team of head coach Urs Meier reacted vehemently just after the second half had been kicked off – and they found the equalizer really quickly. Just 7 minutes in, it was again Etoundi who converted a cross by Philippe Koch (the same player who had already played the assist for the 1-0). FC Zurich was now determined – the home team tried to score the winner and clearly was the better team on the pitch. But unfortunately, they were also a bit unlucky as a shot by Etoundi hit the crossbar.

As a result, the score stayed 2-2 until the final whistle – and FC Zurich remain in 4th place of the Swiss Super League. They will be facing leaders FC Basel in their next away game this Wednesday evening.
