FC Zurich Beat FC Vaduz 4-1

FC Zurich have celebrated their third win in the third game of the 2014/15 season this afternoon. The team of head coach Urs Meier beat newly promoted FC Vaduz 4-1.

After just seven minutes of play, the team from Vaduz managed to take the lead when Cecchini scored the first goal of the afternoon and put the home side 1-0 up. But FC Zurich was able to show an immediate reaction and equalized the score on 21 minutes: After a one-two between Yassine Chikhaoui and Davide Chiumiento, the Tunisian found himself in front of the goal, but his shot hit the crossbar –luckily enough, Chiumiento was able to cash in on the rebound and put the ball into the net to equalize the score 1-1.

Just two minutes later, Gilles Yapi’s perfectly timed pass found Francisco Rodriguez – the 18-year-old would not let this opportunity go by unused and converted from the edge of the box; 2-1 for FC Zurich.

After the half-time break, the visitors from Zurich kept looking for the decisive goal and scored the 3-1 on 51 minutes – Chikhaoui found himself with too much freedom on the edge of the penalty area and curled the ball past Vaduz keeper Jehle into the top corner of the net. Today’s game was ultimately decided when Amine Chermiti scored the 4-1 from the spot (he had been fouled in the penalty area).

FC Zurich will be playing a friendly against German Bundesliga club TSG 1899 Hoffenheim in Brunnen next Tuesday and will be facing Young Boys Berne at home in their next Super League game on Sunday.
