FC Zurich have celebrated their fourth consecutive Super League victory this afternoon. They beat Young Boys Berne 2-1 thanks to two goals scored by Davide Chiumiento and Amine Chermiti (foul penalty).

The home side from Zurich had their first promising scoring opportunity of the game when Chiumiento picked out Yassine Chikhaoui with a perfectly timed pass – but unfortunately, Zurich’s Tunisian captain was not able to convert from a sharp angle as Young Boys keeper Mvogo saved and deflected the ball into corner kick. Subsequently, the visitors from Berne also managed to create several opportunities for themselves but didn’t manage to open the score.

A header by Chermiti just off target after a solo by Yassine Chikhaoui was then the last scoring opportunity of the first half on 36 minutes. And another 15 minutes would go by at the beginning of the second half before either team showed up in front of their opponents’ goal – and FC Zurich’s Davide Chiumiento scored the first goal of the afternoon after a smart pass by Schönbächler, putting his side 1-0 up.

Young Boys were then unlucky on 65 minutes when Wüthrich just missed the equalizer as he didn’t get his foot on a ball deflected by Afum. Instead, FC Zurich doubled their lead after 73 minutes: keeper Mvogo fouled Chermiti in the box – and the home side’s Tunisian striker converted the penalty kick without any problems, increasing Zurich’s advantage to 2-0.

And although Young Boys would not give in just yet, the 2-1 scored by Gajic from the spot (after a rather controversial penalty decision) was all the visitors were going to get today.

FC Zurich will be facing FC Basel in their next away game this coming Saturday evening.
