FCZ - FC Luzern 2-3

FC Zurich have lost the Super League game against bottom club FC Lucerne 2-3 tonight.

After some first opportunities at either end of the pitch, FC Lucerne’s Lezcano sprinted past defender Philippe Koch on 27 minutes and was subsequently fouled in the box. Freuler converted the spot-kick and put the visitors 0-1 in front.

But this lead was not going to last long: After a foul on Franck Etoundi the referee awarded another penalty – this time round for the home side from Zurich. Captain Yassine Chikhaoui was not going to let this chance go by unused and put the ball in under the crossbar with a strong shot, equalizing the score at 1-1.

Just a few moments into the second half, FC Zurich found themselves behind once again though: A cross into the middle found Lucerne’s Lezcano, who headed the ball into the net and put his team 1-2 up. FC Zurich had some difficulty to find their way back into the match after this goal but were nonetheless able to create some opportunities, none of which they were able to convert however. To make things worse: Jantscher scored the 1-3 for FC Lucerne in the 72nd minute.

Just three minutes later, FC Zurich regained hope when Etoundi played the ball to Amine Chermiti, who scored the 2-3 and narrowed Zurich’s deficit to just one goal. No more goals were scored until the final whistle, though, and the final score remained at 2-3.

FC Zurich will be facing FC Aarau in their next away game this coming Sunday afternoon.
