FC Zurich have won their Würth Swiss Cup match of the round of 16 against SC Cham 5-0 tonight.

Compared to last Sunday’s Super League game against FC Basel, FC Zurich head coach Urs Meier changed his starting eleven in eight positions. One of the new players was Patrick Rossini, who scored his first-ever goal for FC Zurich on 12 minutes and put his side 1-0 up. The home team from the canton of Zug were not going to give in though and would not retreat into their own half – quite to the contrary: 21 minutes in, FC Zurich keeper David Da Costa had to deny Roman Herger who was rushing onto the visitors’ goal.

After 66 minutes, Amine Chermiti headed the ball home and doubled Zurich’s lead to 2-0 – this goal ultimately crushed SC Cham’s morale and opposition. A clever pass by Nico Elvedi found Armando Sadiku in the 73rd minute, and the striker scored his first goal with the first team after being out injured for six months with a torn cruciate ligament. It was then again Amine Chermiti who scored the 4-0, and SC Cham captain Ueli Sturzenegger eventually put the final score to 5-0 with an own goal just before the final whistle.

The fixtures of the round of the last eight of the Würth Swiss Cup will be drawn this Sunday.
