1-2 Defeat against FC Thun

FC Zurich have lost their away game against FC Thun 1-2 this afternoon.

After an evenly balanced first twenty minutes with some scenes in the box on either side of the pitch, the home side from Thun became stronger and created several opportunities for themselves. And in the 22nd minute, FC Thun’s Ferreira opened the score with the 1-0 lead for this team.

The visitors were, however, able to show an immediate reaction and equalised the score just five minutes later: Davide Chiumiento got past his opponent on the right side of the field and passed the ball to Oliver Buff – his try was saved by Faivre in the Thun goal, but Franck Etoundi managed to convert the rebound and put his side level 1-1. But Zurich’s joy about this equaliser was not going to last long as Christian Schneuwly volleyed the ball home just two minutes later, putting his side into the lead again.

FC Zurich had their strongest phase of today's encounter at the beginning of the second half when they created several dangerous opportunities by Oliver Buff (46), Franck Etoundi (47) and Davide Chiumiento. But since none of these were converted and Thun didn’t score any more goals either, the result stayed 2-1 for the home side from the Bernese Oberland until the final whistle.

FC Zurich will be facing Borussia Mönchengladbach away in their final group stage game of the UEFA Europa League this coming Thursday evening.
