FC Zurich have lost their first home game in 2015 against FC Thun 0-1 this afternoon.

The visitors from the Bernese Oberland were the more active side from kick-off while the home team from Zurich only managed to create their first scoring opportunity after 20 minutes. But Cameroonian striker Franck Etoundi’s try following a long pass by Zurich keeper David Da Costa was off target. The visitors had their most promising chance after around half an hour when Siegfried hit the post and Karlen was not able to cash in on the rebound as the ball bounced off the woodwork as well.

Just before the half-time whistle, it was FC Zurich’s turn: Davide Chiumiento took advantage of the space that the Thun defenders had granted him, took his courage in both hands and unleashed a shot from long range; unfortunately, his try was also narrowly off target and struck the post – Thun keeper Faivre was already beaten.

After the half-time break, FC Zurich finally got into the game a bit better; however, they did not succeed to convert any of their chances – quite to the contrary: With a little over ten minutes to go, the visitors from Thun took the lead when Gonzalez scored the 0-1 after a headed lay-off by Sadik.

FC Zurich still had the chance to score the equalizer on 86 minutes though, but Etoundi’s shot was saved by Thun keeper Faivre.

FC Zurich will be facing local rivals Grasshopper Club in their next away game at the Letzigrund Stadium on Saturday evening, kick-off 5.45pm.
