In warm temperatures and sunny conditions in the Rheinpark Stadium in Liechtenstein, FC Zurich’s encounter with FC Vaduz has ended in a 2-2 draw this afternoon.

The team of head coach Urs Meier had a rather difficult and slow start of the match and the hosts from Vaduz were the more active and more dangerous side during the first forty-five minutes. But this changed during the second half when the visitors managed to take the lead: A perfectly timed free kick by Oliver Buff found the head of Alain Nef, who scored the 1-0 for his side – the first goal of the season for the Zurich defender. But the joy about this first goal of the afternoon was only short-lived, as Vaduz equalized the score just 10 minutes later when Pascal Schürpf netted in from a narrow angle.

And the action on the pitch did not calm down during the remainder of the game: Mario Gavranovic, who had come on for Amine Chermiti in the 80th minute, beat Jehle in the Vaduz goal to make the score 2-1 for FC Zurich. But it was just not meant to be today and this goal was not going to seal victory for the visitors as just a few seconds after the 2-1, FC Vaduz managed to equalize again – Manuel Sutter scored the 2-2 on his 24th birthday.

FC Zurich will be facing FC Sion in their next home game this coming Sunday afternoon.
