FC Zurich’s away game against FC Thun has ended in a 2-2 draw this afternoon. Although the team of head coach Urs Meier took the lead twice, the home side managed to equalize immediately in both instances.

Approximately 10 minutes in, Mario Gavranovic had FC Zurich’s first promising scoring opportunity: Yassine Chikhaoui played the ball back to his fellow striker who dribbled past his opponent, but Thun keeper Faivre managed to save Gavranovic’s shot.

On 40 minutes, it was eventually FC Zurich who opened the score when Alain Nef nodded in the ball following a corner kick by Oliver Buff. But this advantage was not going to last long as Sulmoni equalized for the home side just one minute later. This goal should never have counted, though, as the scorer was clearly offside.

Throughout the second half, the visitors from Zurich tried everything to clinch the three points – and their efforts were ultimately rewarded in the 85th minute when a cross by Avi Rikan found Yassine Chikhaoui in the middle. FC Zurich’s Tunisian captain was not going to let this chance go by unused and headed the ball home to put his side 1-2 up.

But unfortunately, FC Zurich were not able to defend their lead until the final whistle as FC Thun’s Siegfried scored the 2-2 equalizer just four minutes later. With this draw, FC Zurich remain in 4th place of the Swiss Super League table.

FC Zurich will be facing FC Vaduz in their next home game this coming Thursday evening (kick-off 7.45pm).
