FC Zurich have not managed to celebrate a home win in a Super League game for 11 matches in a row. Tonight, they tried to end this negative streak against FC Vaduz, but didn’t grab the three points either, as the encounter ended in a 2-2 draw.

The visitors took the lead just three minutes in when Manuel Sutter beat Brecher in the Zurich goal after an assist by Neumayr. The home side had some difficulties to find their way into the game and establish themselves in their opponents’ box, but a surprising and well-timed pass by Yassine Chikhaoui to Christian Schneuwly did the trick and beat the Vaduz defense. Schneuwly kept his cool in front of the goal and equalized the score to 1-1 on 19 minutes. It was his first goal for the club.

But shortly before the half-time whistle, it was again the visitors from Liechtenstein who took the lead when Pascal Schürpf put his side 1-2 in front on 40 minutes. After the break, the hosts were pushing for the equalizer – and their efforts soon paid off when defender Berat Djimsiti netted in to put the score to 2-2 following nice one-two with Oliver Buff (52’). This result was to remain unchanged until the final whistle.

The team of head coach Urs Meier will be facing FC Lucerne away on Whit Monday (kick-off 4pm).
