FC Zurich have won their away game against FC Lucerne 1-0 this afternoon.

FC Zurich should have taken the early lead on twelve minutes already: Following an elaborate attack by Davide Chiumiento and Amine Chermiti, the ball ended up in front of Christian Schneuwly, who found himself all alone but who was, unfortunately, not able to put the ball away from a few meters. About ten minutes later, the visitors from Zurich created the very next opportunity of the afternoon, but Armando Sadiku was denied by Lucerne keeper Zibung (22). A wide shot by Freuler on 40 minutes was the home side’s best chance during the first forty-five minutes. Just before the half-time whistle, a header by Alain Nef was off target.

FC Zurich’s lead in the 49th minute was well-deserved, albeit a bit lucky: Armando Sadiku took over a completely failed pass by Lucerne’s Remo Freuler, and Zurich’s Albanian striker beat keeper Zibung with a precise shot from long range – a really magnificent goal! Four minutes later, the ball found its way into the visitors’ net and the Lucerne supporters were already celebrating the equalizer; the officials disallowed this goal for offside though. In the 70th minute, FC Lucerne’s Hyka had the best chance to put his side level, but his header was wide and the ball whizzed past the post.
