FC Zurich have lost their second Super League home game of the 2015/2016 season against FC Lucerne 2-5 tonight.

During the first half, both teams had several opportunities to open the score. As neither of them managed to convert any of them, the first forty-five minutes ended goalless, though.

This certainly changed during the second half. Just five minutes in, Etoundi played the ball to Koch, who passed it on Schneuwly, who scored the 1-0 for the home side with a magnificent shot into the far corner. FC Zurich’s Oliver Buff then had a couple of more chances to double his team’s advantage to 2-0, but unfortunately, all of them were saved by the Lucerne keeper.

And so it had to come about of course that FC Lucerne equalized the score with their very next counterattack: Jantscher took advantage of the fact that Kukeli slipped and beat Brecher in the Zurich goal to put his side level 1-1.

FC Zurich were able to show a reaction, though, and Buff and Schneuwly had several more opportunities. But after 70 minutes, Zurich’s Kukeli cleared a header off the line with his hand. He was awarded a straight red card and sent off; Lezcano converted from the spot, scoring the 1-2 for the visitors.

Although Sadiku managed to equalize again for FC Zurich in the 84th minute following a free-kick by Anto Grgic, Lezcano converted another Lucerne penalty after a foul by Brecher and put his team in the lead again (2-3). This goal crushed FC Zurich’s hopes and ultimately decided the game, and the visitors even netted in two more goals during the final minutes and put the score to 2-5.

FC Zurich will be facing FC Basel in their next away game on Sunday, August 30th, 2015 (kick-off 4pm).
