0-0 Draw against FC Lugano

The Super League away game between FC Zurich and promoted team FC Lugano has ended in a 0-0 draw this evening. With this result, the team of head coach Sami Hyypiä has not celebrated a win in five consecutive national championship matches.

Just four minutes in, Koch got control of the ball and played a through pass for Chiumiento, who sidestepped Lugano defender Veseli – but unfortunately, his effort bounced off the post. And only one minute later, Kukeli got possession of the ball on the edge of the penalty area following a corner kick, but his shot from long range was just wide. A curled shot by Franck Etoundi on 12 minutes was also off target.

After several more very promising scoring opportunities for FC Zurich by Etoundi and Bua before the end of the first forty-five minutes, referee Nikolaj Hänni blew the whistle for the end of the first half, which had been dominated by the visitors from Zurich.

Nothing much happened during the second half and there was only one real scoring chance for either of the two teams until the final whistle: on 47 minutes, Rossini tested Zurich keeper Brecher, who would not let the Lugano striker’s effort surprise him. And ten minutes later, Schneuwly’s lob shot was denied by the home side’s keeper.

FC Zurich will be facing FC Lucerne in their next Super League away game this coming Sunday afternoon (kick-off 4pm).
