The Super League home game between FC Zurich and FC St Gallen at the Letzigrund Stadium has ended in a 2-2 draw tonight – a rather unlucky and undeserved result as the home side conceded the equalizer in the 92nd minute only.

FC Zurich experienced a really disappointing start to the game: Just five minutes in, Zurich defender Alain Nef’s failed back pass to keeper Brecher gave St Gallen the first opportunity of the evening – Salli made the most of this defensive blunder and put the visitors 1-0 up.

The home team’s efforts to equalize the score were ultimately rewarded on 26 minutes: After some nice passing play by Franck Etoundi and Gilles Yapi, the ball ended up in the feet of Kevin Bua, whose cross found Mario Gavranovic in front of the St Gallen goal. The striker had no difficulty to convert this opportunity and put his side level (1-1).

FC Zurich now took over control of the action on the pitch and came very close to scoring their second goal more than once. Christian Schneuwly missed the best of these occasions on 31 minutes, when his shot following a delivery by Etoundi bounced off the right post.

The home team kept on looking for their goal also during the second half and almost got there when Yapi launched Etoundi with a quick through ball. Unfortunately though, Zurich’s Cameroonian striker did not find the back of the net this time round as his shot beat St Gallen keeper Lopar but was then aimed too high and hit the crossbar.

On 74 minutes, FC Zurich finally took the lead when Bua scored the 2-1 for his colors – a well-deserved advantage all in all. As the home team then missed the opportunity to decide the game once and for all and grab the three points, the inevitable happened and Cavusevic’s late equalizer put the final score to 2-2 and robbed FC Zurich of their reward.

FC Zurich will be facing Young Boys Berne away in their next game on occasion of the Würth Swiss Cup on Thursday evening (kick-off 7.30pm).
