Just three days after their victory in the Würth Swiss Cup round of 16 encounter with Young Boys Berne at the Stade de Suisse, FC Zurich again faced the same opponents away this afternoon. There was no winner this time round; the game ended in a 1-1 draw.

The action on the pitch took part in midfield for the most part of the opening half-hour. The first dangerous attack by the visitors after thirty minutes then resulted in the 1-0 for FC Zurich: Franck Etoundi ditched his opponent on the half-way line and dashed towards the Young Boys Berne goal. His square pass found Christian Schneuwly, who passed the ball on to Oliver Buff, and the midfielder scored the 1-0 for FC Zurich to put his colors in front.

The game during the second half pretty much resembled the action of the first forty-five minutes. After a couple of promising chances at either end of the field, Kubo equalized the score 1-1 on 66 minutes – he had only just come on less than 30 seconds earlier.

With their very next counterattack, FC Zurich should have taken the lead again: Buff was faster than Wölfli and was about to dribble past the Young Boys keeper to find the empty net when the latter fouled him in the box – but the referee’s whistle stayed silent. As Bua was not able to convert the rebound either, the score remained 1-1, which was to be the final score today.

FC Zurich will be facing FC Vaduz in their next Super League home game this coming Saturday evening (kick-off 5.45pm).
