FC Zurich Suffer 2-4 Defeat against Local Rivals Grasshopper Club
FC Zurich through to the Cup Final!

FC Zurich Draw FC Thun 0-0

Following their convincing performance in the Swiss Cup semi-final against FC Sion away last Wednesday evening, FC Zurich played their next Super League home game against FC Thun tonight, a match which ended in a 0-0 draw.

From kick-off, FC Zurich made great efforts to control the action on the pitch and dominate their opponents. These endeavors proved almost fruitful just four minutes in, when Kerzhakov’s insidious free-kick challenged Thun keeper Faivre – but fortunately for the visitors, he managed to deflect the ball to the side.

After several more promising chances for Davide Chiumiento (shot over the crossbar from the edge of the box about a quarter of an hour in), Oliver Buff following a nice combination play with Grgic and Kerzhakov (shot beside the corner of the goalpost) and again Kerzhakov, the visitors from Thun also took to the offense for the first time just before the half-time break: Ferreira found himself in front of the Zurich goal, ready to tuck the ball in and open the score – but luckily enough and at the very last moment, FC Zurich’s defense managed to prevent him from scoring.

Also during the second half, the home side continued to dominate the game and created a number of scoring opportunities for themselves, but since none of them were converted, a 0-0 draw was the logical result of today’s game.

In their next Super League game, FC Zurich will be facing local rivals Grasshopper Club away this coming Sunday afternoon, March 13th (kick-off 4pm).
