FC Zurich Sign Center Back Umaru Bangura

The captain of Sierra Leone’s national team, Umaru Bangura, has signed a contract until June 2019 with FC Zurich. The 28-year-old center back joins FC Zurich with immediate effect from Dinamo Minsk, for which he’d played since 2014.

During his youth, the 180 cm tall right-footed defender played for Mighty Blackpool in his home country of Sierra Leone before joining the U21s of Watford FC. He launched his professional footballing career in Norway with Honefoss BK, transferred to FK Haugesund (from 2011 to 2013) and then played more than 80 matches for Belarusian side Dinamo Minsk. Two of those games he played against his new club FC Zurich during the third qualifying round for the UEFA Europa League in the summer of 2015. Back then, FC Zurich suffered a 1-2 defeat on aggregate.
