FC Zurich Beat FC Wohlen 4-0

Second home game of the season, second victory: Following their 2-0 win against FC Winterthur in the first round, FC Zurich also beat FC Wohlen tonight. In front of an impressive crowd of more than 10,000 spectators at the Letzigrund Stadium, the team of head coach Uli Forte celebrated a well-deserved 4-0 victory.

Armando Sadiku opened the score on 19 minutes; the Albanian national team striker scored the 1-0 with a magnificent, well-placed header. And when the majority of the supporters had already settled for a 1-0 lead for FC Zurich at half-time, the home side increased their lead to 3-0 in the 40th (Adrian Winter with a powerful volley into the roof of the net following a cross by Buff) and 44th minutes (curled shot into the corner of the goal by Roberto Rodriguez) – two absolute screamers!

During the second half, FC Zurich pretty much controlled the action on the pitch. The two highlights of the second forty-five minutes were the comeback of Marco Schönbächler after a long absence due to injury and the fourth goal of the game: Armando Sadiku scored his second of the night on 83 minutes, putting the final score to 4-0.

The FC Zurich players were really pleased with their performance after the final whistle. Schönbächler said: “I’m really happy – also because I got to contribute an assist. The fans were outstanding tonight; I think this victory is well-deserved.“

Next Wednesday evening, August 10th, FC Zurich will be facing FC Le Mont LS away (kick-off 7.45pm).
