FC Zurich have justified their role as favorites in their encounter with FC Le Mont tonight and have celebrated a well-deserved 2-0 victory. The team of head coach Uli Forte claimed all three points and has defended the position at the top of the Challenge League table.

Just before the half-time whistle, Oliver Buff put his side in the lead: His shot was blocked at first, but he was fast to react and convert the ricochet to put his colors 1-0 up.

FC Le Mont tried to show a reaction during the second forty-five minutes, but the hosts rarely appeared in front of Zurich keeper Andris Vanins and did not manage to create any clear-cut scoring opportunities for themselves.

In windy and rather cool weather conditions, it was then Marco Schönbächler who scored the second Zurich goal of the evening in the 81st minute, ultimately deciding tonight’s encounter. His shot from long range into the corner of the net of the Le Mont goal was just outstanding.

FC Zurich will be playing their next game this coming Saturday evening, when they’ll be facing FC La-Chaux-de-Fonds away in the Helvetia Swiss Cup (kick-off 8pm).
