FC Zurich beat FC Wohlen 5:0
Thanks to their 5-0 away win against FC Wohlen this afternoon, FC Zurich remain leader of the Swiss Challenge League.
During the opening minutes of today's game against FC Wohlen, the home side managed to create several promising opportunities for themselves. Luckily for FC Zurich though, their keeper Andris Vanins was able to keep out a shot by Lotti and a free-kick by Schulz. Following a corner kick, the visitors still took the lead thanks to an own goal by Hajrovic, and when Zurich striker Dzengis Cavusevic scored two goals to put the visitors' lead to 3-0 still before the half-time whistle, today's game was just about decided.
During the second half, shots by Rodriguez and Marchesano bounced off the crossbar. However, FC Zurich nonetheless scored another two goals before the final whistle – one by Umaru Bangura in the 61 st minute and the second by Moussa Koné just before the end of the game to put the final score to 5-0 for FC Zurich, very much to the joy of the huge number of Zurich supporters who had made the short trip to Wohlen to cheer on their team.
Since the Swiss national team will be playing two qualifying matches for the 2018 World Cup this weekend (on October 7 th and 10 th ), FC Zurich will only be playing their next Challenge League game against FC Le Mont LS on Saturday, October 15 th (kick-off 7pm).
