FC Zurich suffer 0:2 defeat against Osmanlispor FK
FC Zurich have suffered a 0:2 defeat against Osmanlispor FK tonight and have been eliminated from the Europa League.
During the opening minutes, the game between the visitors from Zurich and the home side from Ankara turned out to be a leveled match. FC Zurich had the first scoring opportunity of the evening just five minutes in when Nef flicked on a throw-in by Brunner towards Sarr in front of the Osmanlispor goal. The Senegalese player’s header, however, was aimed too high and the ball flew over the crossbar.
The home team also had their opportunities: Moments before the half-time break, a shot by Regattin just barely whizzed over the top corner of the net. And after the game was re-started, Zurich keeper Vanins was able to deny a header by Webo.
Sarr was again responsible for FC Zurich’s most dangerous opportunity when his shot from long range on 65 minutes put the Osmanlispor keeper under considerable pressure.
During the second half, FC Zurich changed their tactics and played a lot more offensively as they needed a win tonight to get through to the next round of the competition. But the Turks took advantage of this additional space and Delarge scored the 1:0 on 73 minutes. And in the 89 th minute, Erdal’s 2:0 decided the game in favor of the hosts.
