FC Zurich beat FC Chiasso 1:0
FC Zurich have won their home game against FC Chiasso 1:0 this afternoon.
A first shot on goal by Schönbächler after approximately ten minutes forced a save by Chiasso keeper Guatelli. And following some fine passing football by Kukeli, Marchesano and Winter 13 minutes in, the visitors managed to just barely deflect a shot by Dwamena behind for a corner.
FC Chiasso also had a couple of good opportunities: A shot by Marzouk whizzed past the post, and after about 15 minutes, keeper Vanins denied the visitors from Ticino the first goal of the afternoon with a superb save.
But when Winter was sent off on 25 minutes with a controversial red card, FC Zurich had to play the remainder of the game with just ten men. The players, however, did not let this sending-off discourage them, and they were finally rewarded for their efforts on 40 minutes when Dwamena came out on top of two opponents and scored the 1:0 for the home side.
During the final stages of the game, FC Zurich then launched several counter-attacks, trying to score their second – and ultimately decisive – goal. But since these attacks were not carried out with the accuracy and consistency required, the score remained 1:0 for FC Zurich until the final whistle.
Next Monday evening, 13 March 2017, FC Zurich will be facing FC Aarau away (kick-off 7.45pm).
