FC Zurich beat FC Lugano 3-0
FC Zurich have won their home game against FC Lugano 3-0 this afternoon.
FC Zurich had a very concentrated beginning of the game and took control of the action on the pitch from kick-off. A shot by Pálsson after just three minutes was saved by Lugano keeper David Da Costa.
Following a corner kick by Rodriguez on 20 minutes, Daprelà deflected the ball into his own net o put FC Zurich 1-0 in the lead. And ten minutes later, a powerful free kick by Dwamena from approximately 18 meters bounced off the right post.
Throughout the entire game, the visitors from Lugano managed to create just two clear-cut scoring opportunities for themselves. FC Zurich keeper Andris Vanins, however, was able to defend his goal against Mattia Bottani in the first half and then against Alexander Gerndt in the second.
FC Zurich increased the pace during the second forty-five minutes. And the game was ultimately decided in the 51st minute when Rodriguez played the ball to Frey. The Zurich striker won out over his adversary and his powerful shot from 17 meters found the upper right corner of the net to double the home side’s lead to 2-0.
In the 89th minute, it was then Pa Modou’s turn to score his first ever FC Zurich goal: The player from Gambia sidestepped his opponent in the box and scored the 3-0 for FC Zurich with a clinical finish into the bottom right corner.
