FC Zurich celebrate 2-1 victory over FC Chiasso
FC Zurich have won their away game against FC Chiasso 2-1 this afternoon and have grabbed another three important points in their search for promotion to the Super League.
FC Zurich took control of the action on the pitch from the first whistle and had several promising scoring opportunities early on in the game. Moussa Koné had the best of these chances 9 minutes in, but he was denied by Chiasso keeper Andrea Guatelli, who reacted brilliantly and kept the ball out.
Just two minutes later, though, Zurich’s Senegalese striker scored following a corner and put his side 1-0 in front. The visitors then had a few more opportunities to double their lead: In the 23rd minute, Roberto Rodriguez curled his free kick inches over the bar. And following a blunder in the FC Chiasso defense just one minute later, Kevin Rüegg insisted and regained the ball, but he was unfortunately denied by keeper Guatelli.
FC Chiasso, on the other hand, converted their first opportunity to equalize the score at 1-1, when Younes Bnou Marzouk headed the ball into the FC Zurich net on 33 minutes. Just moments before the half-time whistle, Koné was unlucky when his powerful shot bounced off the outside of the post.
During the second forty-five minutes, the visitors from Zurich kept increasing the pressure on their opponents and had several opportunities to take the lead again. And then finally, in the 76th minute, Adrian Winter scored FC Zurich’s game-winning 2-1 from a narrow angle.
Next Thursday evening, 4 May 2017, FC Zurich will be facing FC Aarau away (kick-off 7:30pm).
