FC Zurich beat FC Sion 2-0
Thanks to a convincing performance, FC Zurich have won their home game against FC Sion 2-0 tonight.
The home side had the better start to the game and had two promising scoring opportunities by Frey and Nef. After about five minutes, however, FC Zurich were a bit lucky when Adryan suddenly appeared all alone in front of Vanins, but the Zurich keeper saved the Brazilian midfielder’s shot. A few minutes later, a shot by Schneuwly was just off target and whizzed past the post.
FC Zurich created several more chances for themselves – the best of them when, following a nice one-two with Rodriguez, Frey found himself five meters in front of the Sion goal, but he aimed too high and his shot went over the crossbar (18th minute).
Shortly thereafter, the referee awarded FC Zurich a spot-kick following a foul on Rodriguez in the box, which the Zurich midfielder converted without any problems, putting the home team 1-0 in front. And just three minutes later, Frey doubled Zurich’s lead to 2-0 with a header after a precise corner kick by Sarr.
FC Zurich had a few more chances during the second half, but the score remained at 2-0 until the final whistle.
Next Sunday afternoon, FC Zurich will be facing FC Chippis away in the Helvetia Swiss Cup. And on Saturday, August 19th, 2017, they will be playing Young Boys Berne at home in the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 7pm).
