FC Zurich beat FC Stade Lausanne-Ouchy 4-1
FC Zurich have won their Swiss Cup round of sixteen game against FC Stade Lausanne-Ouchy 4-1 tonight.
After eleven minutes, the visitors from Zurich had their first scoring opportunity when the home side’s keeper Matos just managed to deflect a precise header by Michael Frey around the post. But shortly thereafter, FC Zurich took the lead through Alain Nef.
The spectators then had to be patient as it was only in the 30th minute that FC Zurich doubled their advantage to 2-0: Koné got through on the left, his cross found Frey, and Raphael Dwamena converted the rebound off keeper Matos.
Just before the half-time whistle, Lukanu Bavueza got one back for the home team to put the score to 1-2 – his well-placed shot into the upper left corner of the net from the edge of the box caught Zurich keeper Brecher off guard.
After about an hour of play, Victor Pálsson again increased FC Zurich’s advantage to two goals with a precise shot from 22 meters. It was Pálsson’s first goal for his new club. This goal decided the game – FC Zurich now took control of the action on the pitch, and Koné even scored the 4-1 for the visitors on 71 minutes.
Next Saturday evening, 28 October 2017, FC Zurich will be hosting FC Basel at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 7pm).
