FC Zurich beat FC Thun 3-1
FC Zurich have won their Super League away game against FC Thun 3-1 this afternoon.
Already in the 6th minute, FC Thun’s Moreno Costanzo had the very first good scoring opportunity for the home side following a throw-in, but his shot was wide and whizzed past the post.
When FC Zurich were awarded a free-kick in the 26th minute of the game, Rodriguez played a square pass to Umaru Bangura, whose delivery into the box Rasmus Thelander controlled with his chest to set up Michael Frey. And the FC Zurich striker curled the ball precisely into the net to open the score and put his side 1-0 up.
Subsequently, FC Zurich were the more dominant team and more or less controlled the action on the pitch. 41 minutes in, a corner by Rodriguez found Alain Nef in the middle, who flicked the ball on to Victor Pálsson. The Icelandic midfielder’s pass found Dwamena, who finished this attack off from close range, doubling FC Zurich’s advantage to 2-0.
After the half-time break, Rapp got one back for the home side in the 54th minute. But FC Zurich were able to respond immediately to this goal: Just 6 minutes later, Dwamena fought his way through on the right and played a cross to the middle of the box, where Frey got his foot on the ball and scored his second goal of the afternoon, putting the final score to 3-1 for the visitors. It was the Zurich striker’s fifth Super League goal of the current season.
Next Saturday evening, 21 October 2017, FC Zurich will be hosting local rivals Grasshoppers for the Zurich derby (kick-off 7pm).
