FC Zurich beat FC Wil 4:0
In their away game against FC Wil tonight, FC Zurich have celebrated a clear-cut 4:0 victory and have consolidated their position at the top of the Challenge League table.
The visitors from Zurich had the first scoring opportunities of the evening: 15 minutes in, Buff’s well- timed ball found Dwamena – but Wil keeper Deana denied the Ghanaian striker his first goal for FC Zurich. And just four minutes later, Gilles Yapi was offered the chance to score from around eleven meters out, but his shot was quite far off target. Marco Schönbächler was then rather unlucky on 25 minutes when his curled shot bounced off the right post.
FC Zurich were still rewarded for their offensive efforts before the half-time whistle. Oliver Buff’s curled free-kick over the wall in the 40th minute found its way on the FC Wil goal and keeper Deana only managed to just save the ball which bounced back onto the pitch. Raphael Dwamena was in the perfect spot to slide the rebound into the net, scoring his first goal for his new club.
In the 62nd minute, the many FC Zurich supporters then had another opportunity to celebrate when Oliver Buff volleyed the ball home from a cross by Adrian Winter, scoring the second goal of the evening. And six minutes later, Buff curled a free-kick into the box, where Mirlind Kryeziu jumped higher than the FC Wil defense to score the decisive 3:0 with a header.
This goal by Kryeziu was not the end of it yet, though. About five minutes before the final whistle, Koné won the ball, came out on top of his opponent and slipped the ball to Adrian Winter, who put the final score to 4:0 for FC Zurich.
Next Sunday afternoon, 26 February 2017, FC Zurich will be facing FC Wohlen away (kick-off 3pm).
