FC Zurich beat FC Winterthur 3-0
FC Zurich have won the derby against FC Winterthur in front of 9,200 spectators at the Schützenwiese Stadium 3-0 tonight. It was a well-deserved victory for the visitors.
FC Zurich were off to a flying start and took the lead with just about their first attack on the Winterthur goal: Oliver Buff’s through ball found Moussa Koné, and Zurich’s Senegalese striker slid the ball past the Winterthur keeper to put his side 1-0 in front. It was his 15th goal of the current season.
After the half-time break, both teams increased the pace, which led to several promising scoring opportunities at both ends of the pitch. On 52 minutes, a curled shot by Oliver Buff was not accurate enough and off target. And a few seconds later, a low shot by Antonio Marchesano whizzed narrowly past the post. In the 58th minute however, Oliver Buff’s 2-0 just about decided tonight’s match in favor of FC Zurich.
The home side had a brilliant opportunity to get one back and reduce their deficit to 1-2, but Winterthur’s Luca Radice didn’t manage to slot the ball home after 85 minutes. In injury time, Raphael Dwamena then scored the last goal of the evening, putting the final score to 3-0 for the visitors from the city of Zurich.
After the final whistle, FC Zurich head coach Uli Forte was very happy with his side’s game: “This was an excellent performance by my team.”
Next Wednesday evening, 17 May 2017, FC Zurich will be facing Servette FC at home (kick-off 7.45pm).
