FC Zurich beat FC Wohlen 3-0
FC Zurich have won tonight’s home game against FC Wohlen 3-0 and have bid farewell to the Challenge League in style.
From kick-off, the FC Zurich players were presenting themselves in brilliant form and in the very first minute of the game, Koné came really close to opening the score. And then in the 10th minute already, FC Zurich scored the first goal of the evening when, following a nice combination play with Voser and Koné, the ball found its way to Buff who scored the 1-0 for the home side with a precise low shot into the left bottom corner.
The visitors from Wohlen tried to show an immediate reaction: After a quarter of an hour of play, Tadic appeared all alone in front of Zurich keeper Vanins, dribbled around him but was then not able to find the back of the net because of the sharp angle. Although FC Zurich were the dominant side on the pitch and created the more promising scoring opportunities for themselves, the visitors nonetheless remained dangerous.
A curled shot by Rodriguez on 70 minutes whizzed past the far post by a few inches, and Dwamena was also not able to put the ball home and score the second goal of the night just one minute later – FC Wohlen keeper Kiassumbua managed to deny Zurich’s Ghanaian striker his goal with a fine save.
But on 84 minutes, tonight’s game was ultimately decided when FC Wohlen’s keeper deflected a corner by Marchesano into his own net to double Zurich’s lead to 2-0. And in the 87th minute, it was then Dwamena who scored FC Zurich’s last goal of the season to put the final score to 3-0.
The 2017/2018 Super League season will start on the weekend of 22/23 July 2017.
