Helvetia Swiss Cup: FC Zurich beat FC Bassersdorf 3-0
FC Zurich have won their Helvetia Swiss Cup away game against FC Bassersdorf 3-0 this afternoon.
The players of the team from the 2nd regional league were very motivated and FC Zurich struggled to create any scoring opportunities. Therefore, the spectators had to be patient and wait until the 21st minute, when the visitors had their first chance of the match by Dzengis Cavusevic. But FC Bassersdorf keeper Pasquale Caruso’s magnificent save denied FC Zurich’s Slovenian striker the 1-0.
Just five minutes later, FC Zurich took the lead anyway: Victor Pálsson’s delivery found Moussa Koné, and the Senegalese striker opened the score for the Super League team and favorites.
At the beginning of the second half, FC Zurich were also hard-pressed to push through the Bassersdorf defense. After 58 minutes, however, Moussa Koné scored his second goal of the afternoon following a cross by Kay Voser to double FC Zurich’s lead to 2-0. FC Bassersdorf now had a few opportunities, but in the 81st minute, Frey scored the 3-0 for the visitors from Zurich and decided the game in their favor.
Next Wednesday evening, 20 September 2017, FC Zurich will be facing FC Lausanne-Sport away (kick-off 8pm).
