4:1 victory for FC Zurich against FC Wohlen
FC Zurich have won their away game against FC Wohlen 4:1 this afternoon.
From kick-off and during the opening thirty minutes, FC Wohlen did not allow the visitors from Zurich many chances as the home side focused their efforts on the defense and waited for their opportunity to launch a dangerous counterattack. Consequently, the goal-scoring opportunities were scarce at both ends of the pitch.
Finally, on 33 minutes, a shot by Ghanaian striker Raphael Dwamena in the FC Wohlen box bounced off Yannick Schmid’s hand. Referee Tomasz Superczynski didn’t hesitate a second and awarded FC Zurich a penalty, which Roberto Rodriguez converted into the upper right corner of the net to put the visitors 1:0 in front. Until the half-time whistle, FC Zurich’s pressure on their opponents continued to increase constantly and after a cross by Rodriguez, Adrian Winter’s volley almost doubled the visitors’ lead to 2:0.
However, the FC Zurich players had to be patient and wait for their second goal of the afternoon until the 63rd minute when Antonio Marchesano’s powerful shot found the back of the Wohlen net. This encounter was not decided though, and FC Wohlen found new hope on 81 minutes, when Igor Tadic got one back (1:2) out of the blue to get his side back into the game.
When Sead Hajrovic then fouled Adrian Winter in the box during FC Zurich’s next attack, referee Superczynski awarded the visitors another spot-kick, which Moussa Koné converted without any problems (3:1). And on 93 minutes, the Senegalese striker even scored his second of the afternoon to put the final score to 4:1 for FC Zurich.
Next Sunday afternoon, 5 March 2017, FC Zurich will be facing FC Chiasso at home (kick-off 3pm).
