FC Zurich beat FC Aarau 3:2
FC Zurich have won their home game against FC Aarau 3:2 this afternoon.
Already in the opening minute of today’s match, Michael Kempter got through on the left and played a quick through ball to Raphael Dwamena who was fouled in the box by FC Aarau keeper Ulisse Pelloni. Consequently, referee Alain Bieri awarded FC Zurich a penalty which Roberto Rodriguez converted without any problems to put the score to 1:0 for the home side.
The fans at the Letzigrund Stadium didn’t have to wait long for the next goal: just six minutes later, a well-timed cross by Marco Schönbächler found Moussa Koné in the middle who hit the ball home to double FC Zurich’s advantage to 2:0. It was the Senegalese player’s 12th goal of the current season.
The players of FC Aarau would not give in just yet, though, and on 53 minutes, they got one back through Geoffrey Tréand who managed to convert a rebound, reducing the visitors’ deficit to 2:1. And in the 76th minute, Aarau’s Sébastien Wüthrich even equalized the score at 2:2. But when FC Zurich were awarded another penalty following a foul on Roberto Rodriguez in the 93rd minute, it was again Rodriguez who converted from the spot to put the final score to 3:2 for FC Zurich.
Next Monday evening, 24 April 2017, FC Zurich will be facing Neuchâtel Xamax away (kick-off 7:45pm).
