FC Zurich draw FC Lausanne-Sport 1-1
FC Zurich’s Super League away game against FC Lausanne-Sport has ended in a 1-1 draw tonight.
The visitors from Zurich opened the score with their very first real scoring opportunity when Roberto Rodriguez beat FC Lausanne keeper Thomas Castella with a low shot into the near corner to put his side 1-0 up. FC Zurich then had several more chances, the best of them following a free kick again by Rodriguez from approximately 17 meters in the 23rd minute; but Castella managed to save this shot and Rasmus Thelander was not able to convert the rebound.
Just before the half-time whistle, Francesco Margiotta came out on top of several FC Zurich players and equalized the score 1-1 with a nice shot into the upper left corner of the net.
The supporters had to be patient at the beginning of the second half as it was only in the 64th minute that FC Zurich had their next promising opportunity: After a free kick by Sangoné Sarr, Michael Frey flicked the ball on to Alain Nef, who deflected the ball towards goal. Keeper Castella managed to get his fists on the ball, though, and put it over the crossbar. In the 79th minute, Moussa Koné had the best chance to score the winner for FC Zurich, but his shot was off target and the ball whizzed past the left post.
Next Saturday evening, 23 September 2017, FC Zurich will be facing FC Basel away (kick-off 7pm).
