FC Zurich draw FC Lucerne 1-1
The Super League game between FC Lucerne and FC Zurich has ended in a 1-1 draw this afternoon. Thanks to this result, the visitors from Zurich remain the leaders of the Swiss Super League.
Things looked rather different in Lucerne this afternoon, however, and as if the visitors from Zurich were going to suffer their first defeat of the season: After just four minutes of play, the home side took the lead when the ball touched the hand of Victor Pálsson in the box and referee Sascha Amhof awarded FC Lucerne a penalty kick. And Lucerne striker Tomi Juric was not going to let this opportunity go by unused, scoring the opener for his colors.
During the second half, the visitors from Zurich increased the pace though, put more pressure on their opponents and managed to equalize the score when substitute Moussa Koné converted a magnificent through-ball by Michael Frey. Both teams had a couple of more opportunities to decide the encounter in their favor; however, as they converted none of them, tonight's game ended in a just draw.
Saturday, September 9th, FC Zurich will be facing FC St. Gallen at home at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 7pm).
