FC Zurich suffer 1-2 defeat against Young Boys Berne
FC Zurich have lost their away game against Young Boys Berne 1-2 this afternoon.
The home side from Berne had the better opening minutes and created several promising scoring opportunities for themselves. FC Zurich, on the other hand, focused on their defense and on restricting the available space for their opponents‘ offensive players.
On 18 minutes, Christian Fassnacht found himself unguarded in front of the Zurich goal, but keeper Andris Vanins managed to save his header. 22 minutes in, the visitors had their first opportunity but unfortunately, Michael Frey was not able to deflect the ball towards goal as intended following a cross into the box by Dwamena.
After 34 minutes, the visitors from Zurich took the 1-0 lead when Young Boys striker Jean-Pierre Nsame deflected the ball into his own net following a corner kick by Sangoné Sarr. Unfortunately though, this lead did not last long and the home side equalized the score 1-1 with their very next counter-attack: Cédric Brunner fouled his adversary Assalé in the box and Miralem Sulejmani converted the penalty awarded by referee Adrien Jaccottet.
During the second forty-five minutes, both sides focused on their defense, but during the final minutes, Young Boys increased their pressure on the Zurich goal and in the 84th minute, Assalé ultimately scored the 2-1 winner for his colors.
Next Sunday afternoon, 26 November 2017, FC Zurich will be hosting FC Lausanne-Sport at the Letzigrund Stadium (kick-off 4pm).
